Pamenar | Kensington
For a long time I thought this place didn’t have a name - like that spot in Kensington that’s always too cool for you to even have a name.
Here is a little entry mural I painted for them
As always, it starts with pencil on paper.
PAMENAR
307 AUGUSTA
I intially designed this while I was traveling Mexico. I fell in love with this composition of this boy in the center - sort of awkwardly unsure of himself.
It reminded me of being with my sisters - loosely depicted on both sides. The composition and style is heavily inspired by Diego Rivera. One of Mexicos’ OG muralists.
Pamenar has a beautiful back patio
I often hear artist talk about getting their paintings into the ‘ugly phase as fast as possible ‘
and I agree.
there is always a point during painting
where is start to wonder.. is this my style? or have I lost myself again
I like the chunkiness of the strokes in this one and I love the attempt of coating the entire mural in a thin orange glaze at the end.
I will admit, that despite 2 coats of Varathane there is no match for The Almighty Sun.
